Details
Antique earthenware vase by Doulton Burslem, Staffordshire, circa 1900, decorated with hand-painted blossom motifs in the Flow Blue palette and enriched with gilt Art Nouveau detailing.
The baluster body is framed by twin loop handles that rise to a flared neck, with a period metal-mounted rim adding both visual contrast and functional protection. Deep cobalt floral work softens into the characteristically diffused Flow Blue effect, while fine gilded outlines and sinuous botanical forms reference the Art Nouveau language of the period. Cabinet-sized in scale at approximately 21 cm high.
Produced at the Doulton Burslem works, the vase carries the Doulton Burslem crown mark and registration number RN 328500, aligning it with the company’s Burslem period that pre-dates the later Royal Doulton branding. Unlike many Flow Blue wares that relied on transfer decoration, this example is hand-painted, imparting distinct artistic character.
Condition: No chips or cracks noted. Age-related crazing consistent with antique Doulton earthenware.
