About this piece
A small square that behaves like weather before it behaves like an image. Yellow light sits over a darker lower drag, and the whole thing keeps threatening to become a landscape without ever fully giving in. It is a painting about holding something a little past the point where it stays comfortable.
Winks is a Melbourne painter whose work is colour-led and consistently titled in a way that suggests the words and the image arrived together. The name is deliberate, a low signal. If you catch it, it is yours.
