Vintage pair of French Louis XV style bergère armchairs with gilt wood frames, shaped cane backs and sides, and newly reupholstered seat cushions in a black and ivory houndstooth jacquard.Each chair features a gently curved back, scrolling arms, carved floral details and cabriole legs, with cane work wrapping around the back and sides. The gilt finish has developed natural wear and variation, highlighting the carved details of the frames. We have reupholstered in a woven houndstooth jacquard with contrasting black piping, bringing a sharper contemporary finish to the traditional French form. Vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use, including rubbing and losses to the gilt finish. Cane remains intact with age related variation throughout. Please refer to photographs. A matching Louis XV style cane bergère settee is also available separately, upholstered in the same houndstooth jacquard. Together they form a coordinated three piece suite.
