Percival Lafer built his reputation in São Paulo on chairs that look heavy and sit light — generous, low-slung forms with the comfort engineered in rather than added on. This one is pure Brazilian modern: a deep, square-shouldered lounge chair with wide flat arms, that raise and lower, and a panelled, grid-stitched body, lifted just clear of the floor on a dark recessed plinth so the whole mass appears to float.
Newly upholstered in warm and soft tan suede The panel seams catch the light differently across the piece, and the effect is far warmer than leather.
A genuine vintage piece, dated 23 October 1974 — not a reproduction. Few chairs ofthis age can be pinned to the day they were made.
