Vintage Italian cast display stand in the early 18th-century manner, configured for use as a torchère, jardinière, plant or lamp stand. The circular top is fitted with a brown and white grained marble insert and finished with an ornate edge moulding of gilt foliage and a simulated fringe.
The cabriole-form shaft carries scrollwork with foliate decoration through the midsection and lower portion. A bearded male head with a stylised crown forms the capital detail, and the piece stands on block feet. The column, base and legs are finished in a distressed grey paint with silver leaf highlights.
