About this piece
Rich in history and character, this Vintage Indian Wooden Chest is a striking piece of traditional craftsmanship that brings warmth and heritage into any home. Handcrafted in India from solid hardwood, this antique chest features a beautifully aged patina, original iron hardware, and traditional strap details that speak to its authentic past.
Originally used in Indian homes for storing textiles, clothing, blankets and household valuables, chests like this were essential pieces of furniture that often travelled with families from home to home. The sturdy construction and iron reinforcements ensured the contents were protected, while the generous internal space made them practical for everyday storage.
Over time, the timber has developed a deep, warm tone and natural markings that can only come from decades of use. The original iron fittings and handcrafted joinery further highlight the skilled workmanship behind this timeless piece.
Today, this antique Indian chest makes a beautiful and functional addition to modern interiors. Use it as a coffee table, blanket box, storage trunk or statement piece at the foot of a bed. Its rustic charm pairs effortlessly with both contemporary and traditional spaces.
As a genuine vintage piece, no two chests are ever exactly the same, with each carrying its own unique history and character.
