About this piece

Sourced from Shandong, these terracotta jars are around 120 years old. Each has a full, rounded body with small loop handles at the shoulder and a deep black glaze. They were everyday kitchen vessels for storing oil, grains, pickles and wine.

The glaze has worn back in places to show the clay underneath, giving each one a lovely aged look. Fill one with olive branches or dried stems, or simply let it stand on its own on a bench or sideboard.
