About this piece
A vintage portrait painting depicting a distinguished gentleman in historical dress, set against a dark architectural background. Signed “Grant” to the lower left, the work is painted in a traditional manner with deep green and charcoal tones, highlighted by the sitter’s white collar and gilt pendant detail. Presented in an ornate gilt frame with scrolling foliate decoration and moulded corner details. The frame shows wear consistent with age and use, including losses, chips and rubbing to the gilt finish. The painting itself also shows general age related surface wear.
