About this piece

Sourced from Shanxi, this large open top box is around 150 years old and was likely used for storing grain or carrying produce. It's made from thick elm boards with simple joinery and handles at each end.

The raw, weathered timber gives it plenty of rustic charm. Use it at the foot of the bed or in the living room for throws, cushions, firewood or toys, or as a large planter on a covered veranda.
