About this piece
An impressive vintage Cape Dutch Colonial style armoire, crafted from beautifully figured African stinkwood, a prized South African hardwood historically associated with fine Cape furniture. Featuring an elegant arched architectural pediment above two generously proportioned panelled doors, with warm honey-brown timber contrasting against darker moulded detailing. The double doors open to reveal a spacious interior with a full height hanging compartment and separate fitted shelving. Three lower drawers with decorative brass handles provide additional storage, while the shaped apron and carved cabriole legs terminating in traditional ball and claw feet complete the design. Inspired by traditional Dutch colonial cabinetmaking, this substantial armoire combines the elegance of historic Cape furniture with practical storage, making it ideal for a bedroom, dressing room or entrance hall. In good vintage condition with a lovely aged finish and wear consistent with age and use.
