About this piece
Mid to late 20th century Australian figural sculpture depicting a seated Aboriginal elder, produced in cast composite stone with mineral aggregate construction. Pieces of this type were typically created in small workshop runs for garden and architectural settings, with hand finished detailing and applied surface pigments, traces of which remain visible today. Natural weathering across decades has softened the surface and revealed layered tonal variation throughout the material. The result is a piece defined by age, texture, and presence, offering grounded visual weight within contemporary interiors or sheltered outdoor spaces.
