This knockout double brooch pin was made by the wonderful partnership that were Trabert & Hoeffer Mauboussin. The brooch pin is able to be dated to between 1935 when the firms entered a partnership and roughly 1953 when it was dissolved. The brooch features the word 'Reflection' on a plaque to the rear which was a range introduced in 1938 and was usually marked to the rear as this example is. This particular piece is what is known as a 'double clip' brooch pin, which consists of two separate dress pins that can be mounted onto a frame and be worn as a single, much larger brooch pin. The piece which is crafted from 14 karat white gold takes the form of stylised flower motifs with long stamens and stems. The two largest diamonds in the piece are each F colour, measure 0.79 carat and 0.74 carat and are SI2 and VS1 in clarity. These two largest stones are classed as being early brilliant cut stones, as are a number of the other diamonds in the piece, combined with baguette cut and single cut diamonds. The balance of the diamonds are each of F/G colour and VS to SI in clarity, and combined with the two larger stones weigh approximately 15.18 carat. The two dress pins have hinged double pins to the rear which can be clipped over a small white gold frame that is fitted with a larger single hinged pin and finished with a rolling safety catch. This incredible jewel is completely handmade and likely dates to the 1940s when Retro period jewellery was most popular. In incredible condition the piece shows minimal signs of use and is ready to adorn a 21st century woman
