This should be read as design, not as leftover fabric. Scale is the point. Stretched, the print stops behaving like yardage and starts behaving like a wall work.
Maija Isola is one of the designers who made Marimekko matter, the hand behind much of the bold postwar Finnish printmaking that gave the company its identity. The fabric belongs to that world: confident, architectural, made to shift a room rather than disappear into it. The selvedge mark keeps the piece honest, naming both country and maker on the edge of the cloth. Vintage stock, Finland-marked, and large enough to read the pattern as it was meant to be read.
