About this piece
This small Japanese Satsuma vase is decorated with a pretty hand painted and gilded scene of ducks on a pond surrounded by lush foliage, large colourful flowers and bamboo. There is a wide band of gilding to the shoulder, with raised gilt flowers and more gilding to the rim and foot. It stands 127 mm (5 inches) high and has a diameter of 82 mm (3.25 inches). It is in very good condition with only some very minor loss of the gilding. It would date from the 1920's.
