About this piece

This set of four hand coloured porcelain cups and saucers by Hilditch are decorated with a Chinoiserie pattern latterly entitled "Boy picking fruit". They are unmarked, but the pattern corresponds with Plate 70e on page 91 of Hewat and Owen's "Hilditch Porcelain A Collector's Guide", and the shape matches that shown in Plate 29, page 31 of the same book. They have retained the vivid colours that were applied to them around 200 years ago and are in good condition with one saucer having a very small firing crack to the rim, and there are some small signs of grit from the kiln.
