About this piece
This Royal Doulton lustreware hexagonal box and cover is decorated with a hand coloured medieval style pattern that fits nicely into the Arts and Crafts movement motif. It measures 155 mm (6 inches) across the widest part of the body, and stands 140 mm (5.5 inches) high. The base carries the registered number 658662 for the shape, which I think is number 7555, and was registered in around 1919. Near one of the feet is the painters initials which could be L S. Both the item and the lustre are in very good condition. It would date from around 1920.
