About this piece

Hand-thrown in the Philippines in the late 20th century, this round studio pottery vessel sits within mid-century studio pottery practice, drawing on classical amphora proportions filtered through a modern utilitarian approach. A grounded object with real physical weight and surface depth.

The body is wheel-thrown earthenware/low-fired stoneware, finished with layered mineral slip washes rather than glaze, allowing iron and copper oxides to settle directly into the clay. Soft green and muted salmon tones emerge through wiping and firing variation, resulting in a surface that reads architectural and considered, without reliance on ornament.

Sits comfortably within image-led interiors, private collections, and alongside furniture and art.
