About this piece
Produced in 1933-4 this Remued commemorative jug features a sprig-moulded portrait of John Pascoe Fawkner. On the reverse is incised "Souvenir of Melbourne". It was issued to celebrate the centenary of Melbourne in 1934 with the portraits modelled by Margaret Kerr (1898-1958), who had studied under Merric Boyd. It stands 118 mm high, with a diameter of 105 mm. It has two very small chips to the rim, the largest of which measures 2 mm by 2 mm, and a smallish dull area where something has abraded the glaze.
