Large 12 piece collection of Pierre Cardin serving sets, comprising: 2 x trays, 6 x varying size jugs (one jug with 1 x steel tongs one with 1 x spoon) 1 x salt 1 x pepper.
The set is made with early moulded plastic and wooden loop handles, each piece with iconic signature, the trays also have wooden handles, some piece with original tags.
Condition: Good vintage unused condition with minor ware from being displayed
Dimensions: each tray is 32.5cm wide, tallest pot is 15.8cm.
Biography & History
Pierre Cardin had a significant relationship with Japan, pioneering the fashion industry's engagement with the country. He was the first major European designer to enter the Japanese market, establishing business relations in 1957 and later opening a haute couture store there in 1959. He also found his muse, Hiroko Matsumoto, in Japan.
Pierre Cardin (1922–2020) was a visionary French designer whose pioneering work revolutionised both fashion and modern design. Renowned for his avant-garde style and futuristic aesthetics, Cardin broke away from traditional couture with bold geometric shapes, unisex garments, and innovative use of materials. He was instrumental in bringing high fashion to the masses by launching one of the first ready-to-wear lines from a couture house, and his influence extended into industrial and furniture design, where his sleek, space-age sensibilities helped redefine modernist aesthetics in the 20th century.
