Details
This porcelain lithophane was made by the Plaue Porcelain factory in Thuringia, which is now a state in Germany. It features a scene where a monk or priest is placing a cross around the neck of a young girl, in a rural setting. The Plaue factory was one of the larger manufaturers of lithophanes. This one measures 177 mm (7 inches) in height, 140 mm (5.5 inches) in width and is in very good condition. It is impressed with the letters PPM and the model number 1071. It would date from around 1870.
