Pierre d’Avesn (born 1901) began his career at 14 with René Lalique, where he worked for ten years and designed the Serpent and Tourbillons vases. In 1926 he left Lalique to create his own models, with pieces produced by Cristallerie de Saint-Rémy. In 1930 he was appointed to lead the moulded glass department at Daum Frères’ Croismare glassworks, a position he held until 1936.
