Large pottery vase by Peter Collier, finished in a rust red glaze with a lighter drip glaze to the front. Tall, heavy form. Signed to the base.
Dimensions: 30 cm H; 14 cm base diameter; 11.5 cm shoulder diameter.
Condition: Excellent used condition with no chips, cracks or scratches.
Background: Peter Collier undertook an apprenticeship at Studio Dybka Tichy in Parramatta in the early 1970s before establishing his own studio in the Hawkesbury district of NSW. In 1994 he left full-time potting to develop Timbercrete. His ceramic work draws on experience at Studio Dybka Tichy, using terracotta clays with dipped and trailed decoration. Works may be painted ‘P. Collier’ with the Studio Dybka Tichy printed stamp or incised ‘P Collier’ with an incised abstract fish motif; this example is signed to the base.
