Details

This pair of small Sevres hand painted plates are decorated to the centre with the gilt monogram under a crown, signifying King Louis Phillippe 1 (1773-1850) who reigned as King of France from 1830-1848. Either side of the initials are cherubs waving sprigs of flowers, and below is a spray of three flowers. The centre is then surrounded with a ring of celeste blue and extensive gilding. Both plates have a diameter of 197 mm (7.75 inches), stand 25 mm (1 inch) high, and are in very good condition. The backstamps show that they were made in 1844 for the Chateau de Tuileries, one of the French royal residences.
