About this piece

These figures are Kaduma (or Kadu Uma) house protection statues originating from the island of Sumba, Indonesia. Traditionally carved with a long, tapered pole extending beneath the base, they were designed to be planted firmly into the thatch of traditional high-peaked rooftops or driven into the ground flanking tribal hut entryways. Positioned as guardians, they ward off evil energies, heal ailments, and protect the inhabitants within.

Each piece stands 96cm or 100cm tall and is sold separately. Handcrafted with the patina and character of authentic Sumbanese craftsmanship, these statues carry generations of spiritual and cultural heritage into any interior or garden space.
