About this piece
This vintage Indian wooden chest is a striking example of traditional storage furniture once found in homes across Rajasthan and northern India. Pieces like this were commonly used to store textiles, dowry items, clothing and important household valuables, often passed down through generations. Crafted from solid timber and reinforced with iron hardware, these chests were built for durability during both daily use and long-distance transport. The layered, timeworn paint finish; with soft creams, faded reds and exposed timber tells the story of decades of life and movement.
Opening from the top centre, this antique Indian trunk retains its original iron latch and hardware, preserving its authenticity and historic character. The hand-applied paint and natural patina create a beautifully textured surface that cannot be replicated. Both functional and decorative, this piece works effortlessly as a blanket box, coffee table, hallway storage chest or statement piece at the foot of a bed. A genuine one-of-a-kind vintage find, rich in heritage and craftsmanship, perfect for adding warmth and collected global style to your home.
