About this piece
Sourced from India, this vintage wooden chest carries the quiet strength and craftsmanship of traditional village furniture. Pieces like this were once used to store textiles, garments, documents and household valuables, often forming part of a family’s most important belongings. The layered green paint, softened edges and timeworn patina speak to decades of practical use, while the solid timber construction reflects the durability required for everyday life.
Opening from the top centre, this chest features all original iron hardware, including its authentic latch and reinforcing metal band details. The aged metal fittings not only add structural integrity but preserve the chest’s heritage and character. Both functional and deeply decorative, it makes a striking storage solution at the foot of a bed, in a hallway, or as a statement coffee table. A one-of-a-kind piece of Indian history designed to be appreciated for generations to come.
