About this piece
A striking and substantial Czech art glass vase by the renowned designer Josef Hospodka for Chribská Glassworks, Czechoslovakia, circa 1960s.
This sculptural piece features a beautiful ruby-to-blush pink sommerso effect encased within exceptionally thick clear glass. Deep optical folds and organic flowing contours create dramatic light reflections from every angle, while the heavy four-point base gives the vase an almost architectural presence.
At 28 cm tall and weighing an impressive 3.6 kg, this is a substantial decorative statement piece that perfectly embodies the bold artistic vision of Mid-Century Czech glass design.
Whether displayed on its own or incorporated into a curated collection of European art glass, this vase commands attention with its combination of colour, weight and sculptural form.
Condition Very good vintage condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. Minor age-related wear and light surface marks to the underside consistent with normal use and age.
