About this piece
This tall Melrose vase stands 250 mm high and has a diameter at the shoulder of 180 mm. The decoration is done with a medium blue colour smooth glaze above a dark tan colour glaze that has a textured finish which provides a nice contrast. These have been put on sparingly at the top allowing streaks of the yellow colour of the clay to be seen on the shoulder under the final clear glaze. It has one very small, shallow chip to the shoulder-approximately 2 mm x 1 mm. It dates from the period 1931-40.
