About this piece
This Can pendant was designed by Mattias Ståhlbom for the Swedish lighting company Zero, with a matte painted exterior and a contrasting yellow interior.
Ståhlbom runs the Stockholm design studio TAF, founded with Gabriella Gustafson in 2002, and his work has been shown at MoMA in New York and the Swedish National Museum in Stockholm. The Can pendant carries that same restraint: a simple domed shade where the effect comes entirely from what's hidden rather than shown, the yellow interior only becoming visible once the light is on, reflecting a warm glow that reads quite differently to the plain exterior.
This is an ex-showroom unit, never used, in excellent condition. It's been separated from its original box, so it may show very minor handling marks. It requires installation by a licensed electrician.
