About this piece
Poster from a series produced for the Loterie Nationale (National Lottery) in France by the artist team Derouet-Lesacq. The series foregrounds simplicity in composition, allowing finely rendered detail within the varied environments depicted.
During the 1930s, the French Government commissioned Edgar Derouet to create many of the lottery’s posters. He worked both independently and with collaborators; this example is attributed to his partnership with Charles Lesacq, who collaborated with Derouet between 1938 and 1940.
