Kirsten Ann Møller designed the Model 77B bar stool for J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in Denmark, and this example is in soap finished oak with a hand woven paper cord seat.
The 77B is a direct extension of the Model 77 chair her grandfather, Niels Otto Møller, drew in 1959. Kirsten Ann Møller joined the family firm in 2016 as the third generation, and the 77B and 77C stools were the company's first new designs since 1981. The stool keeps the hand woven seat, worked from a single continuous length of paper cord, and the gently curved backrest of the original chair, on a solid oak frame with a footrest near the base.
The oak is finished in soap, a traditional Scandinavian treatment that keeps the timber pale and matte and leaves the grain clear. The stool is in excellent pre-loved condition and was restored in our Torquay studio. Brush or vacuum the paper cord lightly, wipe the oak with a soft, slightly damp cloth, and refresh the soap finish when the timber looks dry.
Bar height. Dimensions, from the manufacturer's specification: 50 cm W x 50 cm D x 101 cm H, seat width 50 cm, seat depth 44 cm, seat height 74 cm. It suits a breakfast bar or a high island. Sold as a single stool.
