About this piece
Made by HCF Denmark, a Danish manufacturer known through the 1960s and 70s for precision task lighting built for architects, engineers and drafting studios. Marked HCF on the fitting.
The design works on the same spring-balanced, multi-pivot principle as the Scandinavian architect lamps of the period; three points of articulation let the arm hold its position at almost any angle and reach, with the shade adjustable independently at the end. Finished in a strong fire engine red enamel with white joint caps, it has real presence as a desk piece rather than reading as purely functional.
The lamp clamps directly to the edge of a desk or shelf rather than requiring a base, and articulates through a full range of motion once mounted. It's been rewired with a new Australian plug, tested and tagged for use.
