About this piece
The design of this very decorative copper milk or cream jug from the island of Guernsey, goes back about 1000 years, and were made in a number of sizes. This one stands 137 mm (5 inches), with a diameter of 102 mm (4 inches) and holds 1 Imperial pint (.5 of a litre). The brass button with the name J.T. Laine Guernsey, inserted into the base would most likely have been the retailer. It is in very good, used condition and would date from around 1900.
