About this piece

Georgian Mahogany dumb waiter, with three tiers of graduating round rotating stands on turned column, on tripod cabriole legs.

Circa 1760

104cm high, bottom level 51cm, centre 46cm, top 31.5cm

These English inventions were used in dining rooms to hold the ‘condiments’ - sauce boats, pickle dishes etc - so diners could help themselves when the servants were not present. A ‘waiter’ that could not talk!
