About this piece
French provincial oak enfilade (buffet/dresser base), c.1760, attributed to Brittany/Western France. Shaped, rounded-corner top over two panelled doors flanking three drawers, each with a star parquetry motif to the drawer front. Hardware is original wrought iron rat-tail throughout, including a lock escutcheon that still works.
Cabriole legs with scrolled feet, shaped and carved apron. Patina is rich and age-appropriate, nothing artificial about it.
Notable provenance — this piece was previously with respected Melbourne dealer Graham Geddes.
