When we sourced this miniature portrait on ivory it was housed in a very dilapidated and substandard frame, odd given the fine nature of the work itself. In early 2026 we had the portrait professionally re framed with a large double cream matte board and gilt timber frame extending its life. The miniature which has been executed on a fine sheet of ivory depicts a young woman in a white dress that is adorned with blue bows, holding a bunch of cornflowers. The piece is dated and signed in the bottom right hand corner for 1838, however the name of the artist if unfortunately too fine and is illegible.
