About this piece
France
19th century
Solid Bronze, designed for wall or door mounting.
A compelling French bronze relief depicting Christ crowned with thorns, cast in solid bronze and intended to be mounted on a door or timber surface. The circular form and raised border echo architectural ornament, yet the sculptural modelling and expressive detail give the piece a presence that stands beyond decoration.
The intricate details of this religious piece are sure to captivate the eye and the soul. It is signed by the artist Rosnac, and is truly a one-of-a-kind piece that will make a statement in any space. Superb verdigris patina only the passing of time can create.
A rare architectural object with emotive presence and material gravity, aged bronze, sculptural detail and a patina that feels ancient, elemental and quietly powerful.
