About this piece
A magnificent Murano art glass bowl attributed to celebrated Italian designer Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, showcasing the refined elegance and sculptural beauty that made post-war Murano glass world-renowned.
Expertly crafted from richly coloured cranberry-red glass resting upon a substantial crystal-clear base, this impressive centrepiece achieves a remarkable sense of balance and lightness despite its considerable weight. The vivid ruby-cranberry body appears to float above the transparent pedestal, creating a striking visual contrast and enhancing the organic flowing form.
Elegant and understated, the design relies on perfect proportions, exceptional craftsmanship and the purity of colour rather than excessive decoration. The smooth sweeping profile and elongated oval form create a sculptural presence that remains as modern today as when it was first conceived.
Viewed in natural light, the rich cranberry glass reveals remarkable depth and luminosity, while the clear glass foot catches and reflects light throughout the piece. The result is a sophisticated interplay of colour, transparency and form that epitomises the timeless appeal of Italian mid-century design.
Substantial in scale and weight, this is a true statement piece, equally at home in a curated collection of Murano glass, a modern interior, or as a dramatic centrepiece on a dining or coffee table.
