Large ceramic platter modelled in the form of a fish, the surface finely detailed with scales, fins and facial features, highlighted throughout with gold-gilt enamel. Underside bearing pattern number A 25 640. Executed with strong sculptural presence and a high level of modelling characteristic of Italian decorative ceramics produced at Este during the mid-20th century.

Condition
Good condition. Minor wear to the gilt decoration consistent with careful use and handling. No chips, cracks or restorations observed.

Este C.E. (Ceramiche d’Este) produced a range of decorative and table ceramics in Italy during the mid-20th century, often distinguished by bold naturalistic forms and applied gilding. Large fish-form platters of this scale are comparatively uncommon and were likely intended as serving or display pieces, combining functional and decorative appeal. Would also work as a striking wall sculpture.
