About this piece
The Elm Wood Workers Scholar Bench Seat is a beautiful expression of form, function and tradition. Handcrafted from solid reclaimed elm, this 180 centimetre bench celebrates simplicity in its most refined form. Inspired by the long history of scholar’s benches, it carries a quiet dignity that honours the artisanal roots of Chinese design while feeling completely at home in modern Australian interiors.
Every curve and grain tells a story, from the softly weathered top to the slightly uneven edges that speak to its handmade origins. The natural timber finish highlights the unique markings and textural richness of the elm, while the low profile and clean joinery offer strength and stability without distraction. The legs are sturdy and angled for balance, giving the bench a strong presence that still feels light and effortless.
Ideal as seating at the end of a bed, in an entryway or along a dining table, this piece brings both beauty and versatility to your space. Its generous length makes it perfect for layering with cushions or throws, or letting the timber take centre stage. Whether styled alone or with complementary materials, the Scholar Bench is a timeless addition made for everyday living and slow moments.
