Description:

Eilersen Control recliner designed by Jens Juul Eilersen is the ultimate in reclining chair – giving you seated or laying options. Made up of four independent sections, the ‘Control’ is your go-to for reading, watching your favorite TV shows or having a sneaky nap. With two pockets at the back, your magazines, newspapers and digital devices will always be neatly stored away but within easy reach.

The ‘Control’ was designed by Jens Juul Eilersen for Eilersen furniture, Denmark, best known for their sofas. A third-generation designer, Jens was exposed to the family business from a young age and took over management in the early 1960s. With a passion for precision and carefully curated materials, Jens has created some iconic and luxurious sofas that display his attention to proportions and skilled craftsmanship.
The history of Eilersen furniture dates back to 1895 when a young Niels Eilersen first started out as a coachbuilder. He would later go on to adopt the horse carriage as the logo for his namesake company. Drawing on his woodworking experience to build horse drawn carriages, Eilersen was allegedly the first person in Denmark to use steam as a way to bend wood. A method that has since been used by many other manufacturers.
When cares eventually ran horse-drawn carriages off the road, Eilersen applied the same woodworking techniques to build bodies for cars and busses. For over 100 years, Eilersen has gained a reputation for only using the best materials and creating a proud tradition of classic craftmanship.
In the 1960’s Eilersen introduced new designers to the business. One of these was Illum Wikkelsø who would design, among other things, a teak sofa set. Read more about our designers here.
