About this piece
A French Louis XV style marquetry commode dating from the early to mid 20th century, crafted with finely figured parquetry and floral marquetry veneers beneath a shaped verde antico marble top. Rich gilt bronze ormolu mounts frame the bombe form, while the central drawer is centred by a classical urn motif that reflects the enduring influence of French decorative arts. Pieces of this quality offer a level of craftsmanship and material richness rarely found today, bringing warmth, elegance and architectural presence whether placed beneath contemporary art or within a traditionally layered interior.
