Chinese hardwood ice bucket, with tapered square sides bound with brass bands, a large handle to either side, a removable galvanised iron liner within & 2- part cover with central opening to the top, on original stand with short curved legs.

Good condition with minor signs of age.
Very usable, holds a palm plant with pizazz, the fronds emerging from the handy hole in the top!
A very similar example (although with twin holes in top, described as ‘18th-19th century’) was in the apartment of Robert Hatfield Ellsworth, the NY ‘King of Ming’ , sold off in a vast 5-day sale by Christie’s in 2015, where estimated at $7,000-9,0000, it achieved $137,000 US, plus commission!
