About this piece
Vintage wall mirror with a hand-carved timber frame detailed with acanthus leaves, fleur-de-lis motifs and pierced open fretwork.
Originally finished in gold gilt, the frame has been carefully restored: stripped, sanded and hand-polished to a rich walnut, with a subtle black rub that emphasises the carved contours and shadowing. The warm, earthy finish allows the craftsmanship to read clearly, while the open fretwork lightens the profile despite the substantial form.
Retains the original bevelled glass, showing gentle age marks and patina. The frame is solid and in good condition. Can be hung vertically or horizontally; current chain set for vertical. No maker’s marks found. Sourced in Sydney.
Dimensions: 73 cm W x 7 cm D x 90 cm H
