bazaa_backup_original_description: A German Biedermeier chest of drawers in walnut with a triangular pediment, circa 1830s. The ebonised escutcheons, pediment molding, and decorative columns add interest, however, the original in-fills to the veneer are certainly the most charming features of this beautiful piece of furniture.Dimensions: 120cm W x 60cm D x 93cm HCondition: The inlays to the veneer on the top of the piece are not repairs but are original to the construction of the piece. At this time, finding and cutting such a large piece of veneer was often not possible. Gaps and holes in the veneer were patched to make up one large piece. The locks are not currently functional.

About this piece

German Biedermeier chest of drawers in walnut, circa 1830s, defined by a triangular pediment. Ebonised escutcheons, a pediment moulding, and decorative columns structure the façade. The original in-fills to the top veneer are a notable feature of the period construction.

Dimensions: 120 cm W x 60 cm D x 93 cm H

Condition:
- The inlays to the veneer on the top are original to the construction, not later repairs. During this period, sourcing and cutting very large sheets of veneer was often not possible; gaps and holes were intentionally patched to create a single continuous surface.
- Locks are not currently functional.
