About this piece
1980s
Unattributed
A striking pair of oversized planters ina pointed oval form in the Deco-revival style of the 1908s European design. Each has an upper band of richly figured burl veneer over a lower band of warm, knotty yew-style veneer set on a stepped burl plinth.
The faceted sides give a sculptural silhouette while the fitted galvanised zinc liners make them fully functional for live plants as discplayed. They'd suit a lobby, office, restaurant or entry hall or look fabulous flanking a doorway.
