About this piece
The Catifa 53 was designed in 2001 by Spanish studio Lievore Altherr Molina for Italian maker Arper. Its name comes from the width of its shell: 53 cm.
The shell is one continuous curve from seat to back, with no visible joins or fixings. The wider 53 cm shell gives more room to sit back and shift than the compact Catifa 46.
This is the four-leg version with the two-colour shell: matt white inside, glossy black outside, on a chrome steel frame. The chairs stack for storage.
Condition
Pre-owned. Several available, and each varies. Typically the white seats are clean, with light scuffs on the glossy black backs. See photos.
