About this piece
These are a good quality and highly decorative set of six antique chairs made in the early 1900s in the mid 18th century Georgian English Rococo revival manner for the decorator or person who enjoys an eclectic decor.
The chairs feature tall shaped and waisted backs with curved top rail featuring a horizontal French Louis ‘C’ shaped scroll. The rear uprights are shaped and waisted. The vertical full height splat is shaped to compliment the rear uprights and features at the top a raised carved Scallop Shell and side foliate carvings also in the French Louis manner. The chairs also feature elegant cabriole front legs with carved foliate knee embellishments and classic early George III ball and claw feet.
These chairs were decoratively embellished with painting and gilding in the early 1980s by talented artist and furniture restorer Clive Moore who was an associate and friend of artist Brett Whiteley.
Condition: Some chairs require minor conservation and detailing and all require seat frames made and upholstering which is an easy exercise.
