About this piece
Mid-19th century tapestry, circa 1860, presented in its original rosewood frame. The textile depicts a pastoral moment: a horse drinking from a stream alongside its owner.
The piece retains an authentic period presence through the original rosewood framing, which provides a warm, refined surround to the work. A quietly observed rural subject, characteristic of the era’s interest in everyday landscapes and animal study, is rendered with considered detail.
An early example of domestic wall art from the period, preserved in a traditional frame that aligns with its age and origin.
