About this piece
Pair of mid-19th century Victorian lustre vases (1850–1855), probably by Moser. Each vase is blown in a petal-form bowl with a tapering, five-faceted stem, a lower bulbous section, and a curved circular base. The ruby glass is cased in white overlay and etched back to reveal the ruby ground, creating a layered effect. Decoration includes intricate patterns of very fine gilt detailing. Each vase is finished with a circle of alternating long and short hand-cut crystal prisms designed to catch and reflect the light.
